How the 8-Week Wellness Revival Program Works

Week one is all about preparation. You will need to perform a few tasks and learn several concepts to help you in your journey. This includes praying the Prayer of Guidance (Istikhara), booking a 1-on-1 appointment with your Hayat Tayyiba Practitioner for a private consultation, performing specific diagnostic blood tests, journaling your motivations, obstacles, and goals, taking your body measurements, and preparing your kitchen, grocery list, meal plan, yourself, family & friends.

Week two focuses mainly on eliminating sugar and caffeine. You will learn not only the harmful effects of these two, but you will also learn how exactly they are preventing you from reaching your goal. You will also harness the power of community, which will be your main source of motivation and support to keep going and succeed.

In week three, we’ll eliminate wheat and rice from our diets, prepare for carb withdrawal symptoms, and aim for 10,000 steps per day. We’ll also strengthen our community connections through detailed conversations and reflections, and prepare our minds and kitchens for the next phase of the program.

In Week 4, we will focus on eating only “Green Foods” and “Yellow Foods” and avoiding “Red Foods” in a specific way to prevent carb withdrawal symptoms. We continue to harness the power of community, your main source of motivation and support to keep going and succeed.

Our main focus this week is on Nutritional Supplements & Zone 2 Exercise. Engaging with the community by sharing experiences and encouraging others as we prepare for the next week.

Welcome to Week 6! This week, you’ll dive into the Every-Other-Day Diet—a powerful strategy to boost energy and promote sustainable weight loss. Alongside maintaining green and yellow foods, daily steps, and community support, you’ll start alternating meal plans to enhance metabolic health.

During week seven, we dive into the science and significance of sleep, focusing on building habits that promote restorative rest, for you mind, body and soul. You’ll explore ways to create a sleep-friendly environment, adopt bedtime routines, address sleep challenges, and align your schedule to the blessed Sunna of our Beloved Prophet, peace be upon him. You’ll gain tools to optimize your rest, enhance daily productivity, and reinforce your wellness journey.

In our final week, we introduce stress management principles through Islamic spirituality and mindset change. We’ll conclude the program with parting advice and guidance on how to maximize your health in the future.

Abdur Rahman Ashraf, PA-C, is the founder and lead practitioner at Hayat Tayyiba, where he is dedicated to transforming lives through a holistic approach to health, grounded in Islamic principles.
With a dual background in Western medicine and traditional Islamic sciences, Abdur Rahman brings a unique, integrative perspective to his practice. He studied Islamic sciences in Amman, Jordan, for over 15 years and taught Arabic at the prestigious Qasid Institute for four years before returning to the U.S. to complete his medical training.
Currently practicing in primary and emergency care in New York, he also leads Hayat Tayyiba’s personalized health consultations, rooted in “Higher Health” principles—a balanced approach to mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. His medical interests include functional and integrative medicine, areas that align with his mission to empower the Muslim community through Islamic-informed health care.
Abdur Rahman has made a meaningful impact on countless patients, not only by addressing physical health but by fostering a deep, faith-centered approach to wellness.
